Right now is the perfect time to get a few things done around your home to get ready for winter and cooler weather, for instance you should:
Check your attic insulation – if you have blown-in fiberglass insulation you really need about 20 inches to be running at full effectiveness. Stick your head up in your attic and check yours. Here’s a secret –added insulation will help you stay cooler in the summer too - shhhhh, don't tell anyone - it's a secret.
Oh, and while you’re at it have your furnace tuned up. You can get a professional hvac company to keep both your furnace and your a/c tuned up for under $170 a YEAR. At the very least go down and change your filter. That's right, when the game goes to a commercial get up and change your filter. You can get it done before the next play.

One more easy one – especially if you live over a crawlspace, go under there and insulate your pipes. They make foam insulation to wrap around the pipes. Very easy.
